Yep. We all wore pink. And no, we didn’t plan it.
An entire shift of people just showed up for work in pink… must’ve been something in the air.

Well, Thomas caved.
He was at Target picking up some stuff for the house the other day when he saw the Target display of their new affordable line of Orla Kiely kitchen wares and just couldn’t resist their siren call… we are now the proud owners of two new Orla Kiely mugs.
They’re just so happy!
Hip hip hooray! Amanda iced her first cake!
Lots of yays and cheers for Amanda, who did a bee-yoo-tiful job on that prozac cake. Yum yum!

We have officially begun taking special orders for vegan* items!
And there was much rejoicing…
So far, we can only take orders for prozac, plain jane, capote, and classic cakes/cupcakes, but we are on a roll and are planning to roll out a few more options soon.
To see the official special order menu for vegan items, please go to the “menu” header and the last menu option is “vegan items”.
* “what is vegan?” is a question we hear every time we have some of these beauties for sale… vegan means without animal products, so no eggs, milk, butter, etc.
Huzzah! This past Saturday marked the first day of the Memphis Farmers’ Market

this season. Held at the Central Station downtown, loads of vendors and shoppers and of course, farmers, milled around and chatted and bought and sold. It was marvelous!
I had worked awfully late the night before, so I set out a little b
it later than I’d intended and ended up missing most of the produce (I got there about 9:45am); this early in the season, we haven’t really reached peak abundance.
I did purchase another MFM apron for the bakery as well as some coffee from McCarter’s (located in Millington), a cd from the talented gal performing, Valerie June, and a Cherokee Purple heirloom tomato plant from Keith and Jill at Whitton Farms. I also saw about thirty people I knew and got to say hello and catch up. Overall, a pretty awesome Saturday morning!

Ok, here’s a brief story that has entertained me all day…
So Thomas and I ran into his sister Ginny and two of her four children, Blaise and Margo, at church this morning. When we asked where the boys were, Ginny told us this story:
I told the boys, “y’all can stay home and do a devotional with Dad,” but I don’t think they understood what that meant because they started planning a war. They got all excited and Berkeley said to Chas, “ok, I’ll be on the dark side, you be the light side!”
I love these kids.

According to wikipedia, a flashmob is defined as a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusal action for a brief period of time, then disperse quickly.
As it happens, Memphis has its own flashmob group! To get more information and join the group, go HERE.
