thank you!

Friday, November 27th, 2009

We here at Muddy’s have SO MUCH to be thankful for! We had our record day on Wednesday and it’s all because of y’all!

Thank YOU for being so great to us and for including us in your celebrations.
Thank YOU for bringing your friends & family to the bakery, for spreading the word about us, for being the best PR ever.
Thank YOU for getting involved in the day to day, for bringing us your ideas, for giving us feedback.
Thank YOU, especially, for being more than customers, but for being our friends- you’ve become like family.

Other things we’re thankful for: Elizabeth and Travis’s growing family, Laurel’s staying in Memphis and going to college, Paula’s upcoming marriage, Julie and Robert’s first grandbaby (due in just a few weeks!), and so much more.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving break and we’ll see you on Tuesday!

dance party

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

Ok, y’all know I love a good dance party…

Check out this video that Portlander Emily Somers made to help promote the new pink medical gloves her company made.  She got all these doctors, nurses, employees, janitors, etc of  Providence St. Vincent Medical Center and Medline (her company) to participate and it’s pretty awesome.  Once the hits reach 1 million, Medline will begin donating a pretty large sum to breast cancer research as well as free mammograms for the Portland community.
Yet another thing to be thankful for…

vintage pie lady

Ok lovelies, we are completely BOOKED for pre-orders for both Tuesday and Wednesday, so we cannot take any more pre-orders for those days.

We will however be baking all night Monday night, all day Tuesday, all night Tuesday night, and Wednesday until about 3pm.  We will begin both Tuesday and Wednesday with a full bakery case and while pre-orders do take priority, we will be doing our best to keep the cases as full as possible!  If by some miracle we are more efficient than we thought we’d be on Tuesday overnight, we won’t pack up and go home early, no no!  We’ll keep baking and make extra pies and things for you last-minute folks.

THANKSGIVING HOURS:
Tuesday, November 24… 11am-9pm (as usual)
Wednesday, November 25… 11am-6pm

closed Thanksgiving Day through the weekend!

bumper sticker VOTING

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Hey y’all-
As you know, we had a contest in October for people to turn in designs for a Muddy’s bumper sticker. We had 56 submissions!!!

I printed them out and made a ballot for my staff to vote in order to narrow it down to a manageable amount and now we need YOU to vote on the finalists!

Huzzah!!!

girl!!!

For anyone not in the loop, our general manager, Elizabeth, and her husband, Travis, are expecting their first child in April.  This is the first Muddy’s baby and to be honest, we’re all pretty excited about it.  Yesterday they got to go to the doctor to find out whether it’s a boy or a girl and we were all counting down the hours right with her.

I know a lot of y’all have been getting the updates too, so for all our sweeties who’ve been so encouraging and supportive of Elizabeth with her newest adventure… it’s a girl!  :)

R&D… onesies

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

Ok, we’re printing new baby onesies and we’ve had some good ideas from y’all!  Here are the two that seem to be the most popular… BUT WAIT!  We still need help!  (I know, we’re like the neediest people ever…)

Please let us know some groovy color combos for these cuties!  The onesies are available in pastels: blue, green, yellow, pink, and natural (cream color).  The ink is available in the whole spectrum of colors.  Now…  go!

tully lewis: gluten-free hero

tullys brownies from her websiteTully Lewis graduated from Hutchison the same year I graduated from St. Mary’s and I am so thrilled to announce the Memphis debut of her gluten-free brownies… now for sale at Muddy’s!

When our first shipment arrived last week from NYC, I asked Lindye to please cover me at the bakery case and ran into my office and ripped the box open, strewing packing paper everywhere in my haste to get at those brownies.  I opened one up immediately to taste and was awfully impressed.  I then made all my coworkers taste it too (not telling anyone it was GF) and it got the seal of approval.

Actually, I had this post all ready to go that night but by 3pm the next day all the brownies had sold!  We just got our second shipment in, so definitely come taste them.

tullys browniesSo, if you (or someone you thinks deserves to have chocolatey desserts too) can’t have gluten, please come and check them out.

Let us know if you want the brownies from Tully’s Bakery to be regular products that we carry.  And huzzah for Tully, my new best GF friend!

brown butter sea salt rice krispies

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

The other night I tried out a new recipe… brown butter sea salt rice krispies.  Damn.  These things are TASTY!

They’re like regular rice krispies but with more butter that’s been browned so it has a fuller flavor and that dash of sea salt gives it a nice contrast with the marshmallows.  Hopefully, we’ll be making some more to sell in the bakery next week.  Is this something you’d be interested in trying?
