So I got to go to Atlanta for this family reunion to celebrate my cousin-in-law’s birthday. Firstly, I want to thank Elizabeth, the Muddy’s manager. I wasn’t going to get to go, but on Friday evening Elizabeth was like, “no no, you should go! I’ll work for you tomorrow, no worries!” and sent me on my way.
While Mom and I were in Atlanta, we HAD to go visit a few bakeries OF COURSE and I’ll be publishing our findings here on the blog. Woohoo!
First stop was Alon’s on North Highland.
This place is a bakery slash market slash restaurant and was quite bustling with activity. There were custard tarts and things that looked pretty tasty, but since this was the first stop I had to get stuff that was going to hold up in the car! I got an assortment of mini-cookies (double chocolate, Mexican wedding, oatmeal, sable, etc) and the sables were pretty good (but not as good as my dad’s!) and the double-chocolate were awesome. I also got a ginger scone that was delicious!
The breads seemed to be a big part of their business, especially since they baked their own bread for the sandwiches which is a huge part of their business. I got a goat cheese-eggplant-spinach sandwich that was yummers.
