reading list

Ok, I KNOW I have a TON of bakery stuff to work on over the break (Dec 25-Jan3) but I also really want to accomplish a few non-bakery items and I need backup!  I’m really bad about letting my non-work life goals fall by the wayside unless I have that magical word: accountability.  So,  I’m counting on my readers both real and imaginary to keep me on task here. My mission: read three books.  For pleasure. *gasp*

It’s been FOREVER since I read a new book that wasn’t about baking or business.  When I do read for pleasure, it’s inevitably 2am and I just want something to calm my brain down and segue from work to bed, so I end up reaching for the “old favorites”, which are good, but I’ve read them a million times.

So the goal is this… read three NEW books before the bakery re-opens on January 5.  Here are the ones I’ve picked: A Homemade Life by Molly Wizenberg (loaned to me by Sarah, one of our kick-A bakers at the Underground), Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut (borrowed from Thomas’s extensive library), and Decline and Fall by Evelyn Waugh (purchased for myself about 3 years ago and never read).  Let the adventure begin!

Have you read any of these?  Thoughts?  Any others I should add to my list for this year?

I’ve read “A Homemade Life.” It was cute. The banana bread with crystallized ginger is brilliant! I recently read “The Help” and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
